The Electronics Processing CenterReducing Waste:
North Callaway students visited the EPC recycling plant in Earth City, Missouri. Dave Beal led the group on a tour through the 62,000 sq. ft. facility. Virtually everything that comes into the facility from computers and other electronics to plastics and styrofoam is processed and recycled. Data security is a major concern at EPC and they take every precaution to protect data on donated computers. Most hard drives are electronically wiped clean; others are physically shredded. They also have truck mounted hard drive shredders so sensitive information never leaves the client's facility. EPC is also a Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher so they are able to put an operating system on refurbished computers to sell to the public.. Dave Beal:
About EPC:![]() Hundreds of organizations have turned to EPC, one of the largest recyclers and remarketers of surplus IT equipment in North America. EPC, Inc. has been in business for over 20 years and is an approved electronics recycler with the MO Department of Natural Resources
