The Lexus Eco Challenge

The Challenge:

Kenyans enjoying their "new" refurbished computerThe Lexus Eco Challenge is a life–changing opportunity for teens across the nation to make a difference in the environmental health of our planet, one community at a time.

There are three Challenges. Challenge 1 deals with Land and Water; Challenge 2 with Air and Climate. All winning teams from the initial 2 challenges will be invited to participate in the Final Challenge.

The North Callaway Digital Outreach Program is proud to have been chosen to compete in the Final Challenge. Our objective is to establish NERD, the National Electronics Recycling Day, to raise awareness of the serious and growing problem of e-waste. To view our PowerPoint entry, click here. Wish us luck!

Our Ultimate Goal:

While we where preparing our Lexus entry, we were excited to learn of the Help Kenya Project. The Project ships donated computers to Kenyan schools and libraries. To learn more...

Currently, we are investigating ways to transport 40 computer systems to New York for shipment to Kenya. If funds are available, students are planning to travel to Kenya this summer to see the impact of their work first hand.

Thank You:

The success of the Digital Outreach Program is the result of the sense of civic responsiblity of several groups and individuals. The students involved in the program would like to say a special "Thank You" to:
